Say Goodbye to Two Phones! How to Use 2 WhatsApp Accounts on One Device (Android Guide)

Hello smartphone users! If you're tired of carrying two phones or constantly swapping SIM cards just to manage two WhatsApp accounts, I have great news for you! WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that lets you use two WhatsApp accounts directly on a single Android smartphone – no need for complicated cloning apps anymore!

This feature is perfect for anyone with two phone numbers, whether it's a personal number and a work number, or a primary and a secondary one. Now, you can easily separate your communications and manage everything from just one app.

What You'll Need

Before we dive into the setup steps, you only need one crucial thing:

  1. A second active phone number: This number must be able to receive SMS or phone calls for verification, and it shouldn't be currently used with another WhatsApp account.
  2. An Android phone to use: You can use any Android phone you wish to be your main device for both WhatsApp accounts.

Let's Get Started with the Setup!

Setting up your two WhatsApp accounts is much easier than you might think. Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Update WhatsApp to the Latest Version: First, make sure your WhatsApp app is up to date. Go to the Google Play Store, search for WhatsApp, and if you see an "Update" button, tap it.
  2. Open Your WhatsApp App: After updating, open the WhatsApp app as usual.
A mobile phone screen showing account management options including Security notifications, Passkeys, Email address, Two-step verification, Change phone number, and Add account.
  3. Go to the "Settings" Menu:
    • Tap the three dots (or sometimes your profile picture) in the top-right corner of the screen.
    • Select "Settings".
  4. Add the Second Account:
    • On the "Settings" screen, find and tap on "Account".
    • You'll see an "Add Account" button (sometimes it's a small profile picture with a down arrow next to it, then you tap "Add Account" again). Tap it!
A mobile phone screen from WhatsApp prompting the user to enter their phone number for verification, showing a country selection dropdown set to United States and a text input field for the phone number.
  5. Verify Your Second Phone Number:
    • The app will guide you through the new account setup process, similar to when you first registered WhatsApp.
    • Tap "Agree and Continue" to accept the terms and conditions.
    • Select your country and enter your second phone number in the provided field.
    • Tap "Next".
    • WhatsApp will send a verification code (OTP) to your second number. Enter the code you receive. If you don't get it, try requesting a new code or choose to receive a call for verification.
    • Once verified, you can set your profile name and picture for this second account.
  6. Done!: You now have two WhatsApp accounts on one device!

How to Switch Between Accounts

Switching between your primary and second accounts is incredibly easy:

  1. Open your WhatsApp app.
  2. Tap the three dots (or your profile picture) in the top-right corner.
  3. In the menu that appears, you'll see the option "Switch accounts". Tap it.

WhatsApp will instantly switch to your other account. Messages and notifications from both accounts will still come in, but you'll need to switch to that specific account to reply or view details.

I hope this guide is helpful and makes managing your WhatsApp much more efficient! Give it a try, and you'll find your chatting life gets a whole lot easier!
